Check your successes
§ What targets have you reached and why?
- I reached the goal of
acquiring 1,000 gold because it was suggested by the Gold Speed Run
guide. Also, acquiring over 5,000 gold!
- Actually made gold on this
server because the prices I have seen for the week have been horrendous.
- I have my two bankers at
Stormwind and Booty Bay. I have them there to play the auction house.
- I have additional alts
(runners) in each of the main capital cities to pick up any items that
are selling consistently.
§ Which did you find easy?
- Acquiring seed gold as I was
able to farm light leather. Light leather turned out to be a huge seller
and pipeline for me.
§ Where do you need to look again at the
training?
- Researching pipelines. This
gold speed run is on an accelerated run so to really study the market the
way it should be studied is close to impossible. I am finding that I have
to take risks by testing many things to see if they could be pipelines.
Only one item for the pipeline list of 10 actually turned out profitable
and eventually turned into a pipeline for me (Purple Lotus). The other
pipeline was due to me farming and noticing that they are selling
consistently. Therefore, I bought more light leather and they are selling
very well.
§ Are you still keeping track of your progress?
- Yes, I have a note my progress
with spreadsheets and notes. In addition to that, I keep a journal of my
experience with this program in a blog that I update daily.
Check your failures
§ Your
failures teach you more about the Pipeline Method than any successes.
§ If
you are lucky, your failures will be theoretical: pipelines you research with
your addons and progress notes.
§ Even
practical failures, where you make a small gold loss should be considered an
investment in training, rather than a waste of time.
§ Did you learn something about the stack size
to post, or did you learn that there is another source to the item you have
overlooked?
- Yes, I followed the suggested
stack sizes items for herbs, specialized herbs, gems, for example, and
they turned profitable. However, some items were way over populated in
the auction house. Therefore, I created different stack sizes to
differentiate my posts from others and it turned successful.
§ What demand is there for your pipeline?
- For the two pipelines that I
found, the demand is steady. They sell several times a day. I wish I can
find more that will do the same. I would be bringing in much more funds.
Nothing that I have seen so far on the auction house sold right away.
There are no high demand items at the level that I am at. I am sure it is
different on the higher end with epic cut gems, and weapons, gears.
§ Could your failed item actually work at a different
time of day, or week?
- Yes, I have seen items sell
better on the weekdays than the weekends and I have seen the opposite
being true too.
- This week has been the new
patch 4.3, so it seems like the attention is on higher level items as
people are in raids mostly. It really made things more up in the air,
especially when most of the add-ons stopped working. I lost 3 days’ worth
of data.
- Some items just are a lost
cause.
§ Do you simply need more experience?
- Of course, this is my first
gold speed run and first time actually using the massive gold blueprint
in the game.
§ So
don’t be afraid of what seem like failures, they’re essential for your
training.
